The summer sun is so unforgiving and most of the time makes us feel so famished and dehydrated. We may feel hot from inside as well as from outside. The most common problem one faces during summer season, while staying out for long, is heart stroke. Walking around under the sun or having to do physical activity outdoors in humid and hot weather conditions can increase body heat. If you can’t avoid that you can always take precautions. Sweating during summer days may lead to dehydration when fluid intake is not balanced.

A heat stroke may hit you as a result of low fluid levels in your body or severe dehydration. If you are not drinking enough water to replenish fluids lost through sweating, you tend to expose yourself to the risk. Your body needs to be hydrated to be able to respond to the heat.  Moreover, alcohol and caffeinated drinks may make the situation worse as they affect your body's ability to regulate your temperature.

Chia seeds

One can have health drink of chia seeds as it is packed with protein, vitamins and minerals. These ensure that you get your much needed energy dose every day. Chia seed oil also helps to hydrate and nourish your skin. It reduces trans-epidermal water loss and helps to lock in the moisture levels even in the driest of skins.

Lemon

Lemon is easily available in affordable rates during summer. The most common use of lemon is in making lemon water or lemonade. It is very simple to make lemon water; simply squeeze a juice of lemon in a glass of water and drink it. You can add salt or sugar to enhance its taste as per choice. Although it is best to take lemon water with warm water on an empty stomach to reduce weight, improves digestion and strengthen your immune system.

Onion Juice

This is one of the best remedies for treating a heat stroke. Lot of Ayurveda practitioners suggest that this should be the first thing that you must reach out for. Applying onion juice behind the ears and on your chest can help bring down your body temperature. For therapeutic purposes onion juice is more desirable, but you can roast some raw onions with cumin and honey and have it. Raw onions in chutneys or salads can also cool your system.

Curd

Curd is a perfect summer food for all the Indians. It’s cooling, soothing, nutritious and light. Curd helps in improving digestion, boosts immunity, improves your cardiovascular health, releases anxiety and stress and can even eliminate dandruff. It is a good substitute for milk and one can have at any time.

Ice:

Rubbing ice on your face after a hectic day is exceptionally refreshing. If everyday stress is taking a toll on your face and skin, ice can help. It boosts blood circulation to your face and makes it radiant. Ice also helps curing for your sunburns. After applying ice cubes on the sunburnt area, you can see a significant reduction in inflammation and redness. However, sunburns fade with time and with regular application.
