Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves has donned a new hat. He is now also a comic-book writer. Keanu, along with New York Times bestselling writer Matt Kindt, and artist Ron Garney last year launched a Kickstarter campaign for BRZRKR, a comic book series about an immortal warrior who is drawn to look like Reeves. The campaign was embraced by over 14,000 people who combined to pledge a whopping $1,400,000 to get this project made.

Supporters of that Kickstarter receive the full story within three hard or softcover books. If you missed out on that campaign, and are interested in this comic, which Reeves co-writes (and kind of stars in), you can pick up the first issue today at your local comic bookstore. BRZRKR is published by Boom! Studios.

Almost every page of the book shows Keanu with his trademark wavy black hair and low-key attitude, being brutal and effective much like John Wick in almost every frame. The action-packed series has little story progression until the final pages of this first chapter, but big reveals are delivered, one of which is tied to Reeves' character, Berserker, eating a pill that is both red and blue in color (Remember the film Matrix). Reeves' character, Berserker is a half-mortal, half-god with regenerative powers much like Deadpool's. He has lived and battled for centuries yet ends up working for the U.S. government as the person who tackles assignments that are too dangerous for any ordinary human.

In case you ever wished to read a Keanu Reeves story, written by Keanu Reeves, this is the chance. Though Reeves' comic book persona is reminiscent of many of his on-screen roles, it would be interesting to see how well it plays in print.

The first issue features many covers to choose from, with the standard edition created by the great Rafael Grampá (which you can see below).

Boom! Studios President Stephen Christy recently shared that Keanu Reeves used his experience on The Matrix and John Wick franchises in a contrast to the new fighting style he wanted for his BRZRKR series. Christy said, “I have done kung fu in The Matrix. I did ‘gun fu’ in John Wick. And now I want to create a whole new hyper-violent style of fighting with BRZRKR.”

Over his career, Keanu Reeves has proven he is more than just an action star, but many of his most iconic characters are from the genre.

Talking about his upcoming films, the actor is set to reprise his role as Neo in the upcoming Matrix 4, which is scheduled to release later this year. He will be seen alongside Carrie Anne-Moss, who will reprise her role as Trinity, alongside Neil Patrick Harris and Priyanka Chopra. Reeves will also delve back into the world of assassins for John Wick: Chapter 4.
