Viewers Not Pleased with Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khattar’s Jazzy ‘Khaali Peeli’ Romance
Not long after Alia Bhatt’s ‘Sadak 2’, the Indian public is again irked and gone vocal against another upcoming star kid flick! Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khattar’s a boy meets girl romance in ‘Khaali Peeli’ becomes the most disliked teaser on social media.
The plot apparently revolves around two youngsters running away in a typical Mumbaikar ‘kaali peeli’(black and yellow) taxi after committing a “half murder”, and what follows is a predictable love affair between the two. Oh, and do not miss all the blingy singing and dancing!
Isaan Khattar, the male lead of ‘Khaali Peeli’ slips into the shoes of a cab driver this time. Going by the teaser, the ‘Dhadak’ actor has taken the front seat with his punch line deliveries within the 1 minute 19 seconds timeframe. Ananya, on the other hand, whom Ishaan’s character casually refers to as his “item” is our bold and beautiful leading lady aiming a gun at her hero! Sweet!

The makers have put an honest attempt to spice up the evergreen formula of Hindi cinema in ‘Khaali Peeli’. The “Ek Ladka”, “Ek Ladki” on a “Mad Ride” thread is like old wine in a new bottle. It’s true that the new blood of India has gone ahead of such stereotypical portrayals, but the fact that the fresh pair is potent enough to draw its fair share of audience, is undeniable!
The burning question of the moment is, has the Indian public made the right move by discarding the ‘Khaali Peeli’ teaser? Is it too soon to judge a full-length feature film by only the teaser? Well, the answer might be subjective! The post-Sushant era in the Indian film industry has fanatically driven the masses to denounce any releases with the Bolly stars or any star kids associated with it. Although ‘Khaali Peeli’ doesn’t seem to be an extraordinary production so far, rejection of any form of art by following a notion is unfair and vehemently biased.
It is not a much-known fact that ‘A Suitable Boy’ actor Ishaan made his name among the critics by choosing an offtrack film, ‘Beyond the Clouds’ (2017) at the very beginning of his career. The greater audience also liked his performance in ‘Dhadak’ (2018) opposite Jhanvi Kapoor. ‘Fakira’ girl Ananya Pandey who got a big debut with ‘Student of the Year 2’ is already a social media queen with over 14.3 million followers on Instagram. Her works have been well received by the Indian viewers, making her one of the most promising faces of the lot.
The pretty actress shared the above pic promoting her upcoming romantic action drama. Ananya also posted these two back to back snaps with ‘Khaali Peeli’ director Maqbool Khan. Fun fact - we just got to know she calls her director “Mac n Cheese”.
Director Maqbool Khan’s first film ‘Lanka’, a thriller, came out in 2011 that featured Manoj Bajpai in the lead. ‘Khaali Peeli’ is Khan’s second directorial venture.
