New Delhi: A 36-year-old man carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 was arrested for allegedly supplying drugs, police said Thursday.

Acting on a tip off that the accused Rajesh, a resident Sangam Park, would come near Sangam Vihar to meet one of his contacts on Wednesday, the police laid a trap to nab him.

"When he came there, he was nabbed," said Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

On May 31, his associates - Mumtaz Ali and Ramesh were arrested by Crime Branch for possessing poppy straw.

A total of 360 kgs of poppy straw were recovered from their possession, the officer said.

The duo also revealed that Rajesh was the main conduit of the seized contraband, the officer added.

"They also disclosed that drug suppliers used to deliver poppy straw in trucks at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar here. After getting the delivery, Rajesh used to further supply the contraband to his contacts through Mumtaz Ali and Ramesh.

"After the arrest of the duo, Rajesh went underground and kept changing locations to evade arrest, the DCP said.

Interrogation revealed that in 2014, Rajesh started a 'dhaba' in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar where he came in contact with some drug dealers and began supplying drugs after he was lured by them of earning easy and quick money, police said.
