Adults, teenagers, kids, and even toddlers are addicted to smartphones. No one is spared!

What is wrong with the current generation? Don’t they know the side effects of using it?

The problem is – they don’t care. And they don’t care because they are not experiencing any symptoms.

Believe it or not! People often care when they need to. Before that, they don’t even like to discuss the preventive measures. Anyway, we are going to explain 3 studies that tell us why smartphones can be a burden on your mental health.

Study 1: Aligarh Muslim University and ICCSR

According to a recent study of Aligarh Muslim University and ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research), it appears that college students tend to check their smartphones more than 150 times every day.

Less than 30 percent of students said that they were using smartphones for making phone calls only. The remaining ones knew the correct use of smartphones. They were using mobile for searching on Google, accessing social media sites, and streaming movies.

As a result, it came out that students who were using smartphones for a prolonged period had been going through health and academic issues.

Study 2: What A Korean University Discovered?

Korea University, Seoul has found that extensive use of smartphones may cause insomnia, anxiety, and depression. On the other hand, this practice also leads to increased impulsiveness.

Now the question is – how they came to this conclusion?

Well, they discovered an imbalance in the brain chemistry of those students who were addicted to the internet and smartphones using magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is a type of test that gives an insight into the brains of smartphone users.

Study 3: What Journal of Behavioural Addiction Found Out?

Back then, Journal of Behavioural Addictions allocated 414 undergraduates some set of words. They asked them to solve these sets.

Some students were allowed to take breaks using their mobile phones; some were allowed to use paper or computer for the entertainment, while some weren’t allowed to take breaks at all.

The result concluded that smartphone users faced the highest levels of mental depletion and couldn’t solve puzzles like non-users.

What’s the Best Way to Get Rid of Mobile Phone?

Advice isn’t enough; a solution is what we need. First of all, ask yourself, “Why it is necessary to take a break from smartphones?”

Without a robust reason, you won’t be able to reach far.

Besides this, you can also install any app that can actively remind you that you are using it too much. However, pay attention to your perception, as it can change many things for sure!
