27 new cases push COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 4,168

Port Blair: The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,168 on Thursday as 27 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

Five new patients have travel history, while 22 fresh infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

Eleven more people have recovered from the disease, the official said.

The Union territory now has 199 active coronavirus cases, while 3,913 people have recovered from the disease and 56 patients have succumbed to the infection so far, he said.

The administration has so far sent 78,303 samples for COVID-tests, of which 78,040 reports have been received and 263 are awaited, the official added.
