WhatsApp won’t work in old iPhones, Android version from Feb 1
WhatsApp recently had ended its support to Windows phones. Smartphones operating on the Windows operating system can no longer run WhatsApp. After Windows phones, WhatsApp is now ending its support for some Android phones as well as iPhones.
Earlier, WhatsApp had extracted its support for some Android and iPhones, and now few more are adding up to the list.
From February 1, 2020, WhatsApp will end support for iPhones running on iOS 7 and older software, as mentioned in an official blog posted by the Facebook-owned messaging platform. So, if you are an iPhone user and operating in iOS 7 and older software running on your phone, it is highly advisable to upgrade to latest software now to access WhatsApp.
In the same blog it was mentioned that WhatsApp will end for Android users running software version 2.3.7 and older will not be able to use WhatsApp after February 1. So, if you are still using old version of Android phone and runs older software, buying a new phone would be a good idea for you to continue using WhatsApp.
It is because the messaging App will no longer actively develop updates for the older versions. There are new updates every year, hence WhatsApp has decided to focus on the latest ones and skip the older.
Previously, WhatsApp has ended its service to BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS and similarly to Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and 2.2, Windows Phone 7 and iPhone 3GS/iOS.
