Plot: Tremors: Shrieker Island is a 2020 American science-fiction feature film about genetically modified monsters.

It is when a group of wealthy trophy hunters genetically modify Graboid eggs, to create an ultimate hunting experience; their prey escapes the confines of their small island, and begins terrorizing the inhabitants of a nearby island research facility.

And when the head of the research facility locates the one man who is an expert in killing Graboids, Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) steps up to save.

Review: Tremors: Shrieker Island is the seventh feature film in the Tremor’s 30-year franchise. Heading straight to video on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital, including Streaming and VOD platforms, comes this subterranean monster-action, that is steered by serial sequel director Don Michael Paul, who had also directed the last two ‘Tremors’ installments.

It would not be wrong to say that, with a relatively low budget, and a fairly generic plot, Shrieker Island still managed well in hiding its limitations, by fleeting glimpses of monsters and some signature camera tricks. However, it is no coincidence that the atmosphere of the location resembles a mixture of Jurassic Park and Predator.

Moreover, the film tends to take itself a tad bit more seriously than the previous two outings, which makes for a less fun experience. Probably it is just because we have seen it all before!

When it comes to performances, Michael Gross’s performance is great as usual and he really carries the movie. Burt Gummer is a great character that Michael Gross has clearly had a blast playing for the past 30 years, and it is always a treat when a horror franchise keeps on trucking along, by keeping its original continuity in mind.

The most notable new addition to the cast here is Richard Brake. Other new arrivals include Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, and Caroline Langrishe. But they are all stock characters, as it is, after all, Michael Gross’s show at the end of the day!

As far as the technical aspects of the film are concerned, editing is rough, with one scene constantly interrupting the flow and tension of another. Even the dialogues seem to be quite corny with lines meant to have more impact, but falling a little flat.

Overall, it seems pretty clear at this point that there is very little, if any, wind left in the sails of the Tremors franchise; hence the 7th Tremors movie may not attract a whole new audience, but will certainly please Graboid fans worldwide.
