They are pills, they are six in numbers and they are made from chocolate! Yes, you heard that right! Next time you have a mood swing, or feel stressed, even sad over something, pop one of these chocolate mood pills to get into the happy vibe again!

The idea to come up with these ‘Mood Pills’ came naturally to Chef Vinesh Johny, Asia’s top pastry chef and  the  co-founder of Bangalore-based Lavonne Academy. He saw a mold that looked like a capsule to him, and being the magician that he is, Vinesh immediately contacted his creative team to help him come up with an idea.

Initially, he thought of following the concept of red and blue pill (remember The Matrix?) but after a brainstorming session, he finally decided on six pills of love, luck, joy, bold, chill, and go pill—each one comes with a different, stress-reducing flavor. Let’s have a look at them right here.

These capsule-shaped ‘mood pills’ come in ‘Mood in a Box’ and are scrumptious and buttery with a spoonful of sugar and like they say, everything nice. Plus, they look so gorgeous that you’d want to carry them around with you all day long—whenever the stress strikes in, pop a mood pill and you are good to go!

These pills are the result of a lot of research that was personally done by the celebrity chef himself.  He has used stress-reducing ingredients such as green tea, which is known for relaxing the body, coffee and quinoa both of which release adrenaline, and blueberry, which secretes happy hormones in the brain, amongst many others.

The purpose was simple—to create more happiness and no stress for people. This alone created a positive value of these pills.

This food-driven concept was launched during the event of Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 in Hong Kong in July where Johny was featured in the list as well as their All Star Alumni List for his contribution in creating advanced baking course in India through his Academy and baking succulent pastry all around the Asia.

Vinesh’s love for cooking started at a young age when he watched his older brother cook.  His dived deep in the art of cooking after he started playing with basic food recipes at his home.  His favorite food memory is when his father took him and his brother to Lakeview Milk Bar in Bengaluru. However, his personal favorite chef is his mom. Well, can’t argue there!

He completed his graduation in Hotel Management from Christ’s College before he started looking for an advanced course in baking. However, he didn’t find any course in India that offered one. That’s when he thought of starting his own academy—and so happened the birth of Lavonne Academy of Baking Science and Pastry Art, which was also extended to be a café in Bengaluru.

The list of his achievement is long but probably the best of his accolades is officially representing his country in the International Arena for Skilled Olympics in the Pastry sphere, held at Abu Dhabi, where he won his first ever Silver medal.

During his free time, Johny loves working out at the gym and spend time with his family and his dog, Mila.

Coming back to the pills, they are currently available at Lavonne Academy as well Lavonne Café for now. However, he is working hard on taking his ‘mood pills’ across the nation.  He also plans on experimenting with other food-driven concepts in future.
