NCAA Division I university with Mondo track named "Outdoor Track Facility of the Year" by ASBA
Two other universities with Mondo tracks also recognized for excellence in sports construction
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.: The University of Alabama at Birmingham's outdoor track and field facility was named the 2019 "Outdoor Track Facility of the Year" by the American Sports Builders Association, which annually honors excellence in sports construction.
The NCAA Division I university's new venue features a Super X 720 track. Made by Mondo, the industry leader in sport track innovation and expertise, Super X 720 is engineered for speed and comfort. In addition, ASBA awarded two other universities with Mondo's Super X 720 in the Running Tracks category: the University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium in Distinguished Facilities–Outdoor Running Tracks; and the University of South Carolina's indoor track & field complex in Distinguished Facility–Indoor Running Track.
The tracks at UAB and South Carolina, which also is an NCAA Division I school, were installed by Geo-Surfaces; the track at Toronto was installed by Carpell Surfaces.
ASBA, of which Mondo is a member, is the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities. Awards are presented each year to facilities built by ASBA members that best exemplify construction excellence. A panel of ASBA members anonymously judge entries. Projects are scored individually based on considerations such as layout and design, site work, drainage, base construction, surface, amenities, innovation and overall impression. Winning entries' cumulative scores meet or exceed the standard.
