An earthquake hit the Northeast this afternoon, the Indian weather office confirmed. The earthquake struck at 1:15pm and was measured at 5.2 on the Richter magnitude scale and lasted around 15 to 20 seconds. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Manipur's Senapati district, the weather officer said.

No casualties have been reported so far here, police said. The earthquake led to tremors across the Northeast. Earthquake tremors were reported from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
