ICFAI Law School organizes Virtual LexKnot -2020- Celebrations

ICFAI Law School a constituent of The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Declared as  a Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad, has organized three- day celebrations of Law Festival –  virtual LexKnot along with  Shri N J Yasaswy 5th  Memorial  National Moot Court Competition-2020 from 16th October to 18th  October, 2020 virtually.

Inaugural session :

The Chief Guest for inaugural session Hon’ble Sri. Manan Kumar Mishra Senior Advocate & Chairman, Bar Council of India, in his address said “Students must have self-confidence and instill the same in others”. Referring to the lawyering skills he stressed that students must impress the bar and bench with the requisite professional techniques and knowledge in legal subjects. He further appreciated the event Lex Knot for having different areas of competitions such as moot court, mediation, conciliation, debates, essay writing on legal topics  which the law students do get the required exposure and necessary platform in mastering the advocacy  skills.

Events:

The three-day event have seen the participation of 20 teams for moot court competition, 14 teams for Asian Parliamentary debate,  16 teams for Client Counselling and 22 teams for Mediation from across the country. All the events have been conducted successfully except Mediation through virtual mode.

Valedictory session:

The Valedictory session was graced by Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Justice T. Vinod Kumar, Judge, Telangana High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad.  In his address Justice T. Vinod Kumar said that the students get a first-hand experience as they get to interact with the advocates and judges who come to judge these competitions and give their valuable inputs for their improvement. He remembered that during his student life there were no Moot Court competitions as Moot Court was not a part of their curriculum. He further said that present generation of law students are fortunate to have the culture of law fests wherein they get this fantastic opportunity to learn and understand the court room procedures well before they start practicing in the actual courts.

Prof. J Mahender Reddy, Vice Chancellor, The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education,  in his address said that the objective of the program is to improve the skills of advocacy and articulation. Prof A V Narasimha Rao, Director ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad said that the students should have the spirit of participation with full of zeal and enthusiasm irrespective of the fact whether they win or lose and said that all of them were winners. He further said that it is a learning experience and also an opportunity to interact with others and learn many new things that contribute tremendously to their legal career.

Prakash Rao, former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Andhra Pradesh, Prof. Haragopal Reddy, Advisor to the ICFAI Group and former Vice Chancellor, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Prof. Hemalatata Devi, Dr. Madhuri Irene Dr. K. Ravi Kumar, Coordinator of LexKnot Lex Festum, 2020.

1.      Moot Court Competition:

Winner: Nandini Gupta, Rishika Somani, Shraddha SS -Symbiosis Law School,   Noida.

Runner-up: Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore

            Best Speaker:  Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad

            Best Memorial :  Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore

2.      Client Counselling Competition:

              Winner:  Shreeya Trivedi, Abhishek Raj, Government Law College, Mumbai

               Runner-up : Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai

3.      Asian Parliamentary Debate:

Winner : Shivam Pandey, Daksh Dhawan, Shreshta Garg - University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun

Runner-up : Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow

Best Debater : University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun

Best Adjudicator : University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun
