Dhaka: During the most anticipated match between India and Bangladesh in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020, Bangladesh managed to first bowl out India for 177 in 47.2 overs and did well enough to chase down a revised target of 170 in 42.1 overs under the - Duckworth-Lewis method.

While in the midst of celebration, it was reported that Two Indian players - Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi, along with three Bangladesh players on Tuesday were found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and handed suspension points for the ugly on-field confrontation that marred the Under-19 World Cup final in South Africa.

India's cricketing battles with Bangladesh have been polluted since the 2015 World Cup quarter-final at the MCG.

“Five players have been found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel ... (they) were charged with violating Article 2.21 of the code, whilst Bishnoi received a further charge of breaching Article 2.5,” the ICC said in a statement.

While their captain Akbar Ali apologised for the ‘unfortunate incident’, his Indian counterpart Priyam Garg felt it is something that should not have happened.

All charges were levelled by on-field umpires Sam Nogajski and Adrian Holdstock, third umpire Ravindra Wimalasiri as well as fourth umpire Patrick Bongni Jele.

Level 3 breaches carry a minimum penalty of four suspension points and a maximum penalty of 12 suspension points. The suspension points will be applied to the forthcoming international matches the players are most likely to participate in at either senior or U-19 level.
