Plot: Renato (Luis Gerardo Mendez) had a great relationship with his father Flavio (Juan Pablo Espinosa). Unfortunately, economic turmoil hit their town and Flavio had to go to the United States to earn money for the family. That was 26 years ago, and the last time Renato saw his father.

It is when Katherine (Ashley Poole), Flavio’s American wife, calls Renato, who has grown up to be a successful aviation executive, everything changes. She tells Renato that Flavio is on his deathbed and asks to see him. He heads to America, where he shockingly learns that he has a half-brother named Asher (Connor Del Rio).

The two of them could not be more different. Renato is rigid and no-nonsense, while Asher is aimlessly floating through life. Flavio forcefully sends the two of them off on a road trip together that he claims will explain everything to both of them, and that forms the rest of the story.

Review: The film Half Brothers, directed by Luke Greenfield has something for everyone as it is a perfect blend of absurd comedy and heartfelt drama.

While there are numerous slapstick moments that are flat out funny, you also get to see genuinely moving scenes. The credit goes to the screenplay writers Jason Shuman and Eduardo Cisneros, as they have done a wonderful job in balancing both emotions for the entirety of Half Brothers.

As a matter of fact, even the script is incredibly topical and adds to the hilarity. Ali LeRoi and Eduardo Cisneros have managed well to add warm moments right when things get too serious, along with quick jokes that land perfectly!

When it comes to performances, the actors in the film have given solid performances. From Luis Gerardo Méndez’s uptight Renato to Connor Del Rio’s aloof Asher, all are believable, and their chemistry is strong.

Speaking of their relationship, Luis Gerardo Mendez and Connor Del Rio are dynamic together. Their relationship is the key to making this film work!

As far as the music is concerned, it plays a big role in Half Brothers and Director Luke Greenfield has highlighted it throughout the film. On top of the music, he has inserted just enough interesting shots and camera angles to keep things fresh.

Overall, Half Brothers is very much an enjoyable watch and perfect for the holiday season!
