Coming from director Jeanie Finlay, the documentary will serve as a farewell gift to the show which has changed the entire canvas for television.

If Jon Snow broods over the consistent burdening with a higher title, then Kit Harington breaks down to tears when D&D announce the final reading of ‘Game of Thrones’. The HBO show is heading towards its final episode, and after a devastating attack on King’s Landing, fans are now wondering what really lies in the fate of Westeros. Will it remain in ashes with Mad Queen turning to a tyrant with her dragons, or will it be revived by those who truly do not support the Queen who once used to be the Breaker of Chains? However as the world waits for one final night with Westeros, HBO has just teased us with the official trailer of ‘Game of Thrones: The Last Watch’- and yes, you will cry with Kit on this!

Although several fans are highly dissatisfied with the fact that Season 8 was nothing what they had expected it to be, creators David Benioff and D.B.Weiss have managed to pull the trigger at the right time. The documentary takes a deep dive into the year-long making of the final season which has truly changed the entire course of television series. As each episode is almost the size of a feature-long movie, there has been an unfathomable effort that went into putting together the last bits of the show.

As the trailer opens we see the cast assembled at the last reading, when one of the creators addresses them as says, “This is strange. Here we are at the last table meeting... it’s like looking around and seeing your family.” At that moment the camera spans around all the actors which gives us a clear look at what the mood was like in the final reading. As Haringtong breaks down to tears, we see Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Rory McCann (Sandor Clegane) laughing at him. On the other hand, Conleth Hill (Lord Varys) comforts Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) who too seems to be crying over the fact that the show is finally coming to an end. As the trailer moves on we see glimpses of the making of what might just become the biggest TV show in the history of small screen.

As per the official HBO synopsis, “Made with unprecedented access, GAME OF THRONES: THE LAST WATCH is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers. Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heart-breaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world — and then have to say goodbye to it.” However, this documentary is not to be confused with the reunion special which was announced by the show earlier this year.

While ‘The Last Watch’ will look into the work that went into making the final season, the reunion special will bring back all the old characters, including the ones we had lost far back in Season 1 such as Sean Bean, Jason Momoa, and many others who gradually exited the show after giving us some memorable characters. As per EW’s report, a special was shot at Belfast earlier this year with Conan O’Brien as the host, Reportedly, it will be featured on an exclusively new ‘Game of Thrones’ complete series home video box set that will package together seasons 1-8 for the first time.

However, all of this comes much later since as of now we need to gear up for the waste land that was left in the name of King’s Landing back in Episode 5 of Season 8. It is perhaps time for Jon Snow to finally charge against the Mad Queen if he considers his land more important than the woman he loves.
