A source close to the family also confirmed the coronavirus diagnosis.

"He had coronavirus. When you already have heart and kidney issues, your immunity is low. His situation worsened in the last few days," the source added.

The Sajid-Wajid Equation:

Wajid Ali Khan, son of famed tabla player Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, made his debut as a music composer in cinema alongside his brother Sajid Ali Khan, with Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (1998), starring Salman Khan and Kajol. The film proved to be a musical success and led to their collaboration with singer Sonu Nigam on the very popular album Deewana in 1999. Wajid also did playback for Akshay Kumar in “Chinta Ta Chita Chita” from the film Rowdy Rathore, among others.

Wajid along with his brother Sajid served as mentor on singing reality shows “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012” and “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar”.

The composer duo also scored IPL 4 theme song, “Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka”, which was sung by Wajid.

Sajid-Wajid and Salman Khan:

Impressed by their stint in Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Salman Khan gave them another opportunity with Hello Brother in 1999. The composer duo gave music for four songs in the album, which also had three songs by Himesh Reshammiya.

With ‘Wanted’ Sajid-Wajid created history with Salman Khan. The film's music is still popular with the fans of the actor. Many of them have the title track as their caller tunes. The same track is used in many other films of the actor.

Sajid-Wajid gave music to several Salman Khan films. These included- Partner, Hello, God Tussi Great Ho, Veer, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Tere Naam, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Ek Tha Tiger.

Their most popular association with Salman was the Dabangg franchise, with Dabangg 3 also being Sajid-Wajid’s last work together for films.

Salman Khan gave his fans a surprise on Eid, this year, as he released his single ‘Bhai Bhai’. The song was composed by Sajid-Wajid, while it was penned by Salman and Danish Sabri. The song spreads the message of brotherhood in difficult times.

Composing Music:

According to Wajid, the composition was more important for him as compared to lyrics.  He once, said, “I personally think that lyrics alone fail to provide the soul and feel to the song. For example, the famous ‘Lagg ja galey, ke phirr, haseen raat ho na hoshayad iss janam me phir, mulaqat ho na ho’- This phrase may not be successful as it was or as it is now also, if it had some other kind of tune or composition. For me, composition has an upper edge, although it carries a husband-wife relationship with lyrics. Composition plays the role of the driving force in relation. I always do composition before lyrics.”

He further talked about the process of music-making, “Making our signature track is a learning process. We all learn from our own experiences. Experience with age is something that will nurture your hidden talent and let your inner power grow and utilise it to the maximum. We both go hand in hand. If I am the heart, Sajid bhai is the beat. We are together and this is our strength.”

Wajid - The Singer:

Between the two siblings, Wajid Khan was also a singer. He crooned popular numbers like “Do You Wanna Partner”, “Soni De Nakhre”, “Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Doon”, “Love Me”, “Hud Hud Dabangg”, ” Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita”, “Mashallah” and “Fevicol Se”.

Wajid Khan had also sung the IPL 4 theme song “Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka” which was scored by the duo.

In more than 20 year-long music career, Sajid-Wajid composed many songs. It will never be the same magic for the Khan Brothers now. It’s never easy to witness demise for the close family members. Wajid was laid to rest at the Versova Kabrastan in Mumbai, in the presence of a few loved ones, including his brother Sajid Khan and Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi.
