Another air-conditioned local train is set to be inducted in the Western Railway (WR) to increase its existing services without withdrawing any other trains. The new AC-train will be operational from Virar to Churchgate and vice-versa.

As per the plan, one train will be added to run eight more services without affecting the existing trains. The plan is expected to get nod within the span of a week and put into service in next 15 days. The plan states that out of eight services at least one each will be added during the peak hours on morning and evening, while remaining will operate in either expended peak hours or otherwise. “We are hopeful of finalising the plan in the next two weeks and the proposal has been sent for approval,” said L Satyakumar, Divisional Railway Manager for the WR.

The first AC service was launched on 25th December 2017, wherein eight services were operational using one train during five days of week. The services subsequently increased on weekends after the WR got another AC train. WR must look into running an AC service between Dahanu to Andheri and Andheri to Churchgate, instead of Virar and Churchgate.
