Two more deaths, 364 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana

Hyderabad: Two more succumbed to COVID-19 and 364 tested positive for the virus in Telangana as the caseload mounted to 3.02 lakh, the health department said.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 75, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts with 32 and 31 cases respectively, a state government bulletin said on Saturday providing details as of 8 PM on March 19.

The state has been witnessing a gradual rise in cases for the last 10 days with a large number of infections being reported from a few schools in the state.

According to the bulletin, 189 patients recovered from the infection on March 19.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 2.98 lakh while 2,607 were under treatment.

The bulletin said 66,036 samples were tested on March 19.

Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 95,48,685.

The samples tested per million population was 2,56,547, it said.

The recovery rate in the state was 98.58 per cent, while it was 96.1 per cent in the country, it said.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.55 per cent, while it was 1.4 per cent at the national level, it said.

Meanwhile, an official release said the vaccine wastage in the state stood at 0.62 per cent.
