Society Performers Academy welcomes Actor Emily Nelson as a coach!

Emily Nelson is a professional actress, improviser, voice over artist and teacher based in Los Angeles. Originally from Chicago, Emily began performing as a teenager in high school productions and training at The Second City. She went on to earn a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon University. Emily has continued her training and professional accomplishments all over the country working with many notable teachers and artists. Some of her television credits include TRUE DETECTIVE, PLATFORM, GLOW, SHAMELESS, SIDESWIPED, MELISSA & JOEY, CODE BLACK, BONES, THE MENTALIST, COLD CASE, BOSTON LEGAL, WITHOUT A TRACE, and ER. In 2007 she had the pleasure of filming the feature film MADE OF HONOR. Emily’s stage work includes wonderful roles in such plays as COOKING WITH ELVIS, HOME FREE!, THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN IN THE MOON MARIGOLDS, among others.

Emily currently teaches at AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts, ACEN Studio (founder and head teacher), and summer sessions at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. Emily has taught all ages of young students with outreach programs and arts-in-school companies such as Young Storytellers Foundation and Urban Anthropology Project (Los Angeles), Creative Youth Community Learning Experience (CYCLE) and The Shanti Foundation For Peace (Chicago), Society For The Education of the Arts, The National Shakespeare Company, Actor’s Creative Experience, Strike Anywhere! Improvisation (NYC), The Florida Studio Theatre (Sarasota, FL), and The Washington Island Players (Washington Island, WI). Emily lives in Los Angeles with her family and two wonderful Huskies!
