On the eve of the PIAA playoff match-up between Laurel Highlands (17-8) and York Suburban (21-7) a quiet storm is approaching Pittsburgh and his name is Savon Sutton.

YORK, Pa.: York Suburban High School only won 3-games last year.  Sutton, the 6'3, 175lbs maestro has already orchestrated his squad to an 18-game improvement.  These aren't typical results of a freshman lead team; that's because Savon Sutton isn't your typical freshman.

Savon Sutton's college-level basketball IQ and professional approach to the game is incredulous.  He's invigorated fans throughout York, Pa while garnering the attention of several Division I institutions.

The recruiting coordinator for NIKE EYBL Team Melo advised that "….discussions with colleges regarding Savon are active and fluid with inquiries coming in on a weekly basis" they continued "with him competing on the EYBL this summer, he will no longer be a secret to anyone, he's just scratching the surface of what his recruitment will ultimately look like – he is a power 5 kid."

The consensus is that on Friday night a new name will enter the conversation of top Pennsylvania freshman, players and top national prospects - that name is Savon Sutton, and he and his game will be a secret no more.  Any expectations for York Suburban and Sutton at the start of his freshman campaign have not only been met, but they've also been surpassed; Friday's game is simply another stepping stone in the continued progression and development of an expeditiously ascending star.

Top national scouting services trout Sutton as a "gifted young guard with a lot of scoring tools at his disposal who prefers to facilitate making those around him better. As his game continues to evolve, he should be easily be considered a Top 50 talent in his class going forward."  While also adding, "His ability to knock down jump shots in both transition and in the half-court is advanced well past his years; he also possesses an impressive first step and the ability to stop on a dime and change directions.  This includes being able to step back and to the side to create space.  He competes on both ends, has active hands and is a scorer and playmaker when working off the deck."

Well, rounded guards who can score are at a premium and highly sought after; with schools such Butler, Purdue and Pittsburg formally making offers to players as seniors in this Region and District (Class 5A) who have never done statically what Sutton has accomplished as a freshman.

No matter the outcome of Friday nights highly-anticipated match-up the toothpaste is out the tube, the legend of Savon Sutton is the reality now, he's up next.
