Most Books-A-Million Stores Open; Customer Traffic Strong in Advance of Mother’s Day
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.: Books-A-Million has opened the majority of its stores to customers following local guidelines for safe and secure shopping.
“We are extremely appreciative of the support we have received from our customers during these difficult times. Through online ordering; the buy online, pick-up in store option; and curbside pick-up, our guests have continued to seek out great books, educational materials, puzzles and toys,” said Chief Executive Officer, Terrance G. Finley. “Now that we are able to welcome our customers back to the stores in time for Mother’s Day, our booksellers stand ready to share the rich assortment of new books and products that we have been curating over the past weeks.”
A Mother’s Day shop is featured at storefront, showcasing a wide variety of great gifts for all moms. Highlights include “I Really Needed This Today” by Hoda Kotb, “One More Hug” by Megan Alexander, cosmetic cases in beautiful floral prints and a wide assortment of “Mom” mugs – ranging from humorous to touching to fit every kind of mom. Other great gifts are “Magnolia Table” by Joanna Gaines, “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle, “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng and many items for self-care, including journals, relaxation kits, candles and more.
Among the new book arrivals are Stephen King’s ‘If It Bleeds” and John Grisham’s “Camino Winds” along with new fiction from David Baldacci, Kiera Cass, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Michael Connelly, Lawrence Wright and many more.
May also brings more excitement with the May 19 release of the latest in the Hunger Games series, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” The publishing world was rocked this week by the announcement of a new Stephenie Meyer novel in the Twilight Series, “Midnight Sun.” Advance demand has been record-setting and the book, set to be released Tuesday, August 4, is available for pre-order now in store and online.

The stores have implemented additional efforts to provide a safe shopping environment for guests and associates with some noticeable precautions in place, including providing personal protective equipment for associates, installing acrylic register guards at all check-out areas and implementing self-distancing markers in aisles and at the registers.
