Mixed Roots Foundation hosts 'Blue Girl' Film Screening by Actor Kabir McNeely
SAN FRANCISCO: To kick off the new year of 2021 which also marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of the 10 Year Anniversary of Mixed Roots Foundation, a philanthropic organization that raises awareness and funds for the global multicultural adoption and foster care community, Mixed Roots Foundation hosted a community film screening called BLUE GIRL that took place last week on Saturday, January 23, 2020 via Zoom due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. BLUE GIRL which has drawn film festival praise including Independent Shorts Awards - Los Angeles and the Youth Diversity Film Festival was written and produced by one of Mixed Roots Foundation's very own long-time participants and supporters and now formally a Jr. Ambassador of the foundation as well as a quickly emerging actor, filmmaker and producer, Kabir McNeely based in San Francisco, CA.
"Me and my family have been involved with Mixed Roots Foundation for a long time since it was established in San Francisco in 2011… We participated in their signature MLB San Francisco Giants Adoptee Night events which was really fun," said Kabir McNeely, Jr. Ambassador, Actor and Filmmaker. Since then over the years, I have developed a passion for telling stories and being an advocate for the greater LGBTQ community. Being able to share BLUE GIRL with Mixed Roots Foundation and the greater community has given me hope and inspiration to continue to do more. We had a great film screening including a Q and A with my cast who are from all over with different backgrounds just as what Mixed Roots Foundation is fundamentally all about – I am – We are not alone… I look forward to continuing to partner with Mixed Roots Foundation and be a voice for those who don't have one."
For those who participated in last week's BLUE GIRL community film screening also had the chance to be part of a drawing that included merchandise from the film including t-shirts and sweatshirts. A portion of the sales that took place during the screening was donated to various LGBTQ organizations that Kabir has designated and Mixed Roots Foundation further supports in the community.
