IIHM Ahmedabad organized its 7th International Food Festival

Ahmedabad: It is that time of the year when IIHM hosts its International Food Festival for all food fanatics across the city. Foodesium – The Slurrp Museum was a one stop delicious weekend destination for a myriad of food lovers, food bloggers, hoteliers, and locals to descend on Vedhshala Party Plot this Saturday (14th December, 2019) from 7.00 pm.  Amdavadis were ready to accustom their taste goblet to some of the most authentic flavors of Europe and Asia. They let their hair down and enjoyed a whole host of tantalizing and mouth watering dishes at Foodesium – The Slurrp Museum, the 7th International Food Festival by IIHM, Ahmedabad.

From humble beginnings and since it was first launched in 2013, the success of IIHM’s International Food Festivals has evolved over the years. From Purple Fiesta, a fabulous display of cuisines in 2013 and celebrating the Eurasian in 2014 to Contra Costa in 2015 to Asian Food Carnival in 2017 and Locura Costera in 2018, the students of IIHM have always succeeded in their core competency – the ability to design, innovate, present and operate an event of massive proportions, bringing together people through the universal fact of unification – FOOD. In 2018, Locura Costera catered the choicest of cuisines from across the seas. Continuing the tradition in 2019, Foodesium – The Slurrp Museum focused on the geographically beautiful epitome of culinary arts – European and Asian Cuisines. There was an array of several gastronomic delights from the regions of Europe and Asia primed by the aspiring chefs of IIHM.

Some of the dishes from the menu that tempted the taste buds of the people comprised of delicacies such as salads - Lab Kai and Bulgar Wheat Salad (Thailand) and Waldorf Salad (United States); soups- Khow Suey (Burma); starters - Galouti Kebab and Chettinad Paneer (India). The main course was divided into four sections: European- Sea Food Paella (Spain) and Pasta on live counter (Italy); Mediterranean – Egg Shakshuka (Israel) and Courgette Fritters (Greece); Pan Indian- Mumbaicha Dal Tadka and Jodhpuri Bhindi (West India) and Chef’s special Chicken Biryani (North India); and South East Asian- Chicken Curry (Vietnam) and Noodles (Singapore). The accompaniments included breads like Focaccia, Paska bread, and Cheese swirls. Lip smacking desserts included Fudgy Brownie (USA), Gajar ka Halwa (India), and Lemon tart (France).

The Food and Beverage team got the tasty mix of flavors just to keep the guests happy and in good spirits. Some of the delicious and refreshing mocktails appreciated by the guests were Fizzy Falsa, Guava Jalapenos Margarita, and Elderflower Spritzer.

To support United Nations’ Sustainability Goal No. 2 Zero Hunger, IIHM initiated Food Aid Campaign under which the food soldiers of IIHM Ahmedabad served 100 visually impaired children of Blind People’s Association at Foodesium. A separate menu was designed for these children to suit their palate.

This food festival was not limited only till food. There were scintillating music performances by IIHM students, group and solo dance by visually impaired girls of Blind People’s Association, and live music and performances by artists and bands to light up the evening. In addition, intriguing games, fun activities, mega lucky draw, prizes, and a lot more excitement doubled up the energy levels of all the guests.

The décor of Foodesium – The Slurrp Museum was very pleasing to the eyes. Right from the entrance to the stage and all over the venue, colorful lights and multihued paper chandeliers made the atmosphere very dynamic. Big black lanterns were kept on every food counter that worked as sign posts and made it easy for the guests to have a lovely dining experience.

Conviviality, customs, and cuisine!  Foodesium - The Slurrp Museum was an exclusive gastronomic event presented by IIHM Ahmedabad. Amdavadis kick started the festive season by feasting on scrumptious delicacies from Europe and Asia. It was a grand food fest for all those people whose weakness had always been FOOD. It is rightly said that
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if has not dined well."
