Puducherry reports 21 new COVID-19 cases

Puducherry: The Union Territory of Puducherry logged 21 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 1,66,044, a senior health official said here on Saturday.

Director of Health G Sriramulu, in a release, said the health department examined 1,559 samples during the last 24 hours and 21 new cases surfaced during evaluation in the UT.

There was no fresh fatality today and the death toll remained unchanged at 1,962.

Sriramulu said there were 114 active cases out of which 111 patients were in home quarantine and only three patients were in hospitals.

Seven patients recovered during the last 24 hours and the overall recoveries were 1,63,968, the Director said.

Sriramulu said the health department has so far examined 22,72,469 samples and 19,17,265 of them were found to be negative.

The test positivity rate today was 1.35 per cent while fatality and recovery rates were 1.8 per cent and 98.75 per cent, respectively.

Sriramulu said the department has so far administered 17,28,432 doses across Puducherry which comprised 9,69,854 first doses, 7,30,730 second doses and 27,848 booster doses.
