Odisha reports 849 new COVID-19 cases, 66 deaths

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 849 new COVID-19 cases and 66 deaths on Thursday, a Health Department official said.

Among the new patients were 130 children, he said.

The state has so far reported 10.04 lakh COVID-19 cases and 7,628 deaths.

The new cases were reported after testing 71,231 samples, recording a positivity rate of 1.19 per cent.

The rate of infection among those below 18 years was 15.31 per cent, the official said.

Khurda district, of which the state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, reported the highest 313 new cases.

Cuttack district recorded the highest 15 fatalities.

The state at present has 8,288 active cases, while 9.88 lakh patients recovered, including 721 on Wednesday.

The Health Department said that over 50 lakh people of the state have received both doses of the COVID vaccines.
