Odisha records 572 corona cases
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Monday recorded 572 coronavirus cases, 69 of them children, on Monday taking the tally to 12,94,076, the state health department said.
The positivity rate jumped to 4.25 per cent from 3.46 and the number of active cases rose to 3360, of which 1444 in Khurda district, it said.
There were no deaths due to the infection which remained at 9126. Another 53 more COVID-19 patients had died due to comorbidities.
The bulletin said that a total 13,462 samples were tested.
Khurda district, where capital Bhubaneswar is located, reported the highest number of 219 infections, followed by 68 in Cuttack.
On Sunday the state had logged 576 cases.
The health department release said 239 more people have recuperated from the virus taking the recoveries to 12,81,537. Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said the hospitalisation rate is very low suggesting that most of the cases are asymptomatic or mild.
As a preventive measure Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation asked all roadside vendors and business establishments should ensure that there is no overcrowding at the premises.
Salons, shopping malls, auditoria should ensure COVID-appropriate behaviour, it added.
