Mumbai: With children and young adults being more vulnerable during the pandemic, academic institutions are the last of the kind to start opening up in the unlocking process. Online classes have become a part of the new normal and while institutions have been applauded for adapting to this era of physical distancing with a digital touch, a large section of the society has been unfortunately left behind. Underprivileged children have been unable to jump on this bandwagon and thus have been completely eliminated from this new normal that we all are now a part of. NGO Vishwas took an initiative to bridge this gap and welcome these children into the new normal by providing them with a smartphone to utilise for online classes and studies. Around 40 underprivileged children were identified for this event which took place in Mumbai on Sunday, 18th October, and were provided with a smartphone each. TV Actress Hunar Hali, known for playing the lead in several TV shows; was present at the event along with Avinash Dharmadhikari ACP, Mumbai Police.

Suresh Agrawal - Founder, NGO Vishwas said, “It is important to keep inclusivity in mind when we plan for development. These children are eager to study, go to school, hear from their teachers but they have no resources. It gives us immense pleasure to help these kids as we believe that children hold the key to the fate of tomorrow.”

“I would like to commend NGO Vishwas on this initiative. I’m extremely happy that I could come here today and meet these lovely kids. I would wish them all the best for their bright futures.” said Actress Hunar Hali.

“A lot of young children that fall below the poverty line have been facing this issue for months now. We all live in our comfortable homes with all facilities and yet complain. I truly appreciate the efforts of NGO Vishwas for giving a much-needed momentum to the lives of these children.” said Avinash Dharmadhikari, ACP,  Mumbai Police who came forward to support the initiative.
