8,151 new coronavirus cases in Maha, 213 deaths
Mumbai: Maharashtra's coronavirus infection tally on Tuesday increased to 16,09,516 with 8,151 new cases, said a state health official.
The state also reported 213 new COVID-19 deaths, which took the death toll to 42,453, he said.
65,456 coronavirus tests were performed in the last 24 hours, of which 8,151 turned out to be positive at an infection rate of 12.45 per cent, the official said.
7,429 patients were discharged after treatment, taking the tally of recovered cases to 13,92,308.
The number of active patients in the state is 1,74,265.
Mumbai city reported 1,091 new cases during the day, which pushed its case count to 2,44,260, while its death toll rose to 9,864 with 45 new fatalities being reported.
Pune city added 334 COVID-19 cases, raising its tally to 1,68,736, while 22 deaths took the toll to 3,873.
The state has so far conducted 82,51,234 tests.
Out of 213 deaths reported on Tuesday, 144 had taken place in the last 48 hours and 69 in the past one week, the official said.
The Mumbai division, which consists of Mumbai city and satellite towns, reported 2,353 new cases, raising its total case count to 5,58,139. A total of 17,394 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 4,12,164 and death toll at 9,287, the official said.
Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 2,15,592 and death toll at 4,117, he said.
Kolhapur division has reported 1,05,932 cases and 3,522 deaths till now, while Aurangabad division's case tally stood at 60,247 and death count at 1,519.
Latur division has reported 66,101 cases until now and 1,925 fatalities.
Akola division has recorded 50,118 cases while 1,182 people have succumbed to the disease until now.
Nagpur division has recorded 1,39,209 infections and 3,369 fatalities, the official informed.
A total of 24,34,687 people are currently under home quarantine in the state while 23,488 others are placed in institutional quarantine.
