Youth With Impact & The BIC Corporate Foundation writing creative contest provides positive outlet for today's youth

STAMFORD, Conn.: Stamford, CT -- Youth With Impact & The BIC Corporate Foundation has announced the kick-off of the 2021 Creative Writing Contest for youth ages 12-21.

With a winning prize of $1,000, the second prize of $500, and the third prize of $250, it is certainly worth the effort for students across the country to show off their talent.  All winners will also be awarded a seat in Youth With Impact's live, online 10-week Entrepreneur and Leadership Academy.

Creative writing is known to help advance problem-solving and analysis, improve well-being, relieve stress, and improve confidence, to name a few benefits.

The power of the written word is evident in Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman's early rise – enabling her to overcome a speech impediment and giving her "creative freedom," she's been quoted as saying -- ultimately leading to her inaugural poem, "The Hill We Climb."

Teens also need an outlet -- especially during COVID -- who according to the Journal of Adolescent Health, are turning to substance abuse and feelings of isolation.

The BIC Corporate Foundation and Youth With Impact want to help young adults reach their potential through the 2021 Creative Writing Contest. Through the online contest, under-resourced youth and their school communities will have the opportunity to craft their story, increase their skills, and express themselves.

Alison James, Executive Director of the BIC Corporate Foundation stated: "At BIC, we believe in the power of creativity as an important driver of change. We want to foster creativity in all of its forms – particularly in underserved communities. By partnering with Youth With Impact, we are able to help provide young creativity-makers in our own communities with the tangible skills necessary to make their mark on this world, in addition to providing the critical financial support where it's needed most."

"Creativity – whether through innovation or the written word – is what will propel our young people to success," said Youth With Impact CEO Jennifer Openshaw. "Our young people need more opportunities like this to build their written communication skills."
