Chandigarh: Indian Youth Congress interim president Srinivas B V on Wednesday launched the 'Jan Shakti Abhiyan' of the party ahead of the assembly elections in Haryana.

The aim of the campaign is to highlight 'failures' of the present regime and works carried out by the previous Congress government.

Addressing a press conference here along with Haryana Youth Congress president Sachin Kundu, Srinivas said people of the state had realised that the BJP had made "false promises" due to which they would bring the Congress back to power.

He said though the Congress was strong in all 90 assembly segments of the state, the Youth Congress would focus on "Super 40" constituencies during the assembly elections.

"At the end of the 'Super 40' campaign, the Youth Congress will claim eight to 10 tickets," he said.

When asked if the Congress has set any target like the BJP's Mission-75, the replied, "The Congress will definitely come back to power with a good majority."

The BJP, which currently has 48 MLAs in the 90-member Haryana assembly, has set a target of winning 75 plus seats in the October polls.

Srinivas also denied any factional feud in the Haryana Congress, saying everyone was working together for the party's victory.

The Youth Congress leader said they would hold a door-to-door campaign and discuss major issues with people.

Suggestions for improvement will be sought from people, he said, adding that it would help prepare the manifesto.

The Youth Congress leader also slammed the state government for "rising unemployment" and said it would be a major issue in the elections.

"Lakhs of educated youth are jobless in Haryana. The BJP failed to fulfil its promise of ensuring jobs to them," he said.

He also hit out at the state government for "deteriorating" law and order situation.

"The number of molestation and rape cases have gone up and there is no check on these incidents," he said.
