Review:

This movie shows you friendship, love, sacrifice, guilt, courage and so many more elements. How the four friends who grew up around the Indo-Nepal border enter the world of crime and how their friendship turns into enmity in the mutual rivalry.

During the ’70s, they are all grown up and are doing brisk business as arms dealers. Soon they also get mixed up in the Naxal movement; they bond like brothers and grow up together by stealing and smuggling. An encounter with student and activist Sukanya (Shruti Hassan) in college where the Chaukdi Gang goes to sell weapons turns their life upside down.

The Bachchan influence in Rizwan’s character played by Vijay Varma may appear at times to be trying too hard and coming to the art direction- posters of Amar Akbar Anthony and other movies during the seventies, the costumes, hairstyle: give a sense of nostalgia but may seem too repetitive or a routine.

The movie often cuts to their lives in the ’90s, where Phagun (who is now Param), Rizwan, and Bahadur are now powerful businessmen. Phagun is married to Sukanya and has a kid. The friends are shocked to hear that Mitwa, who still hasn’t stopped being a criminal, is in town and he is in the custody of the CBI.

Seeing the film, it can be said affirmatively that one thing which will get the most attention of the audience is picturization of the film. Tigmanshu Dhulia has used a variety of colours to capture the Indo-Nepal border of the 1970s in-camera, which is something special for the audience to see.

The story of the Indo-Nepal border has been shot by Tigmanshu Dhulia in Bhopal. One would praise the writers for the story sketch, that is captured in such a way that not only you get to know the main characters but also individual actors share a great deal of screen timing, making an impact.

Clinton Cerejo's background score has been very contributing to making this film special.

This movie teaches that no matter how you live now, but you can always transform your life for good. It also tells you that for a friend you can cross any limit.
