With the 2020 Summer Olympics to be held in Tokyo approaching, expectations and excitement are soaring sky high, India’s top medal contenders are preparing in a full-blown manner and with that the celebrated wrestler Vinesh Phogat is gearing up for her second Olympic appearance – Tokyo 2020. This time she is confident of returning with a medal.

“I was fully prepared when I went to Rio. But that unfortunate injury dashed my chances. This time, I have experience. If anyone will ask me, what Olympic pressure is then I do have an answer. I have experience of playing an Olympic (Rio 2016). That experience will help me in Tokyo. You won’t see that Vinesh. You will see an experienced and sorted Vinesh in Tokyo. I am confident of a medal-winning finish in the Tokyo Olympics”, as told by Vinesh.

"I have worked a lot on my fitness. My coaches and physios are keeping an eye on my training regimes. I just want to be fit and go with a fresh mind to Tokyo”, Vinesh added.

Vinesh is among the four Indian wrestlers so far who have booked a quota place for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The other three are- Deepak Punia (86kg), Bajrang Punia (65kg), Ravi Dahiya (57kg).

Addressing them, Vinesh said that she wants her team to be as large as possible which will help them remain motivated for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Vinesh is quite confident and says that she and her team are willing to fight for the medal.
