Plot:
A police officer gets killed in Hyderabad and DCP Aditya(Sudheer Babu) is brought in action to handle the case. The killer(Nani) leaves clues for Aditya and says he will commit more murders in the days to come. With this, a cat and mouse game starts where the murders keep happening and Aditya gets clueless. Who is this killer? Why is he killing everyone? What is his connection with Aditya? and where do the two heroines Nivetha and Aditi Rao feature in this setup?
Review:
This is the first big Tollywood film to have a direct digital release. It marks the 25th film of Nani and his third collaboration with Mohanakrishna Indraganti after Ashta Chamma and Gentleman. Sudheer Babu played the other lead, while Nivetha Thomas and Aditi Rao Hydari played female leads.
Nani is the soul of the film and it is his negative character portrayal that lifts the value of the film. Nani embodies a thrilling persona, doing all kinds of persona for the first time and he is pretty good. The way he uses his unique dialogue delivery to create a negative tone to the atmosphere of the film is credible. Nani has an amazing screen presence and he uses his personality to the best of his ability in the film. This avatar of his earns a plus point for the film.
Sudheer Babu is a perfect fit in his cop’s role and showcases all the dynamics of his character that he is capable of. He is the protagonist of the film and takes on the other strong characters effectively, creating a balance. Whether it’s his dances, emotions, or dialogue delivery, or body language; Sudheer Babu seems to have conquered it all.
Nivetha Thomas looks glamorous in the film. She shares decent chemistry with Sudheer Babu. Aditi Rao comes in the key second part and makes her presence felt. The action sequences are grippingly haunting in the first half and thoroughly elevates the curiosity quotient among the audience. All in all, the characters in the film played their role giving priority to the film plot.
It is the first time in his career, Dil Raju is producing an action film and he has gone all out with V. The production values of the film are top-notch as the visuals by PG Vinda blends well and high. Amit Trivedi’s music along with Thaman’s BGM adds that extra oomph. His score for all the thrills and tense moments is accurately effectively. It shows just how important a film’s background score should be! The art direction is amazing. The whole setting of the movie is appreciable. A dark colour palate has been used throughout the film, which adds visual depth to the film.
Coming to the director Mohanakrishna Indrganthi, he has taken a completely different route from his normal films and surprises with V. Even though his story is routine, the way his screenplay runs the first half was quite unique. But the second half comparatively was a little dull and made things routine and rushed.
‘V’ is a perfect mixture of drama, revenge, romance, and action, making it one of the promising films of the year.
