Review:

Tiki-Taka which was previously titled as Khelechi Ajgubi is an upcoming 2020 Indian bilingual Hindi/Bangla-language sports drama/ situational comedy film directed and produced by Parambrata Chattopadhyay.

The film stars African national Emona Enabulu in the main lead role while director Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ritabhari Chakraborty, and Saswata Chatterjee play supporting roles in the film. The film was set on the backdrop of West Bengal and other parts of North-East India.

The north-eastern part of India might be huddled away from the central states, but it is rich in talent and a growth hub. In the case of sports, the Indian Football team has a quite sturdy fan following and team players both from this region. Football is a sacred sport in the northeast. Many star football players like Bhaichung Bhutia (captain of the Indian team) have been brought up in the cities of the east. The mountainous landscapes help the children in developing a sturdy foot–quite literally! The children of the northeast have stronger calves and a greater level of stamina due to their rugged terrain.

It is true that football was introduced into India by the British in the 1800s, but northeastern India held onto the sport in such a way that it feels indigenous now! A personal experience of this is on a trip to Gangtok, Sikkim, I met a few boys who played football every day for five hours. They all had one dream–to be in the Indian football team. In every household, the boys harbour the dream of becoming a footballer!

Tiki-Taka is based on an African man who visits India along with a football stuffed with drugs. The movie is shot in Kolkata. It is a comedy Sports movie that has the potential to blow your mind completely.

The movie got its title Tiki-Taka from the Spanish style of playing football. Tiki-Taka is produced by Rohan Ghose and the story is written by Shouvik Banerjee. The movie presents with one of the most talented and amazing ensembles- Saswata Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Emona Enabula, Bruno Venchuro- playing characters with full conviction.

The story revolves around an African man who came from Africa with a football that is stuffed with drugs. Khelechi who is an African man arrives in India. At the airport, the Drug Lord’s man took the wrong man instead of him. The movie begins with this dramatic twist when the race begins by showing how he was rescued and how he suffers in the state.

Tiki Taka is a family comedy film that takes us through a story woven with comic scenes most of which arise out of the errors and misunderstandings the characters go through. Khelechi and Raju are the lead duos of this film, but neither of them speaks each other's language. Hence, fans will see them scurrying across the streets of Bengal, getting into more complicated situations the story progresses.

Tiki-Taka is a light-hearted situational comedy that underlines friendship, culture shock, sports, political and media foul-play, and love, all with a Bengali backdrop in the heart of the city. Even the name of the movie makes for an apt title as Tiki-Taka translates to touch-touch in Spanish, a technique of keeping the football and passing it within the team until the team players score a goal.
