Review: Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) happens to be the military ruler and territorial administrative of Uyyalawada. Abiding by the advice of his guruji Gosayi Venkanna (Amitabh Bachchan), Reddy turns into a brave leader and warrior. He is a benevolent and passionate ruler who puts his best effort to make sure his subjects are happy. Although Reddy falls for the gorgeous dancer Laxmi (Tamannaah Bhatia), yet, forced by circumstances he gets married to Siddhamma (Nayanthara). Enraged by the British atrocities, he collaborates with other kings, such as Raja Pandi (Vijay Sethupathi) and Avuku Raju (Sudeep) and prepares for a rebellion. Along with battling the Britishers, Reddy also requires dealing with a few individuals of his very own kingdom who want to destroy his mission.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a periodic historical drama and just like the other movies of this genre, the creators of this film have also made it's narrative very dramatic. The performance of Cheeranjeevi is just bang on. With his powerful acting skills, the actor shows that he definitely can play any character and make it completely his own. The appearance of the Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is short but quite impactful. Both Tamannah and Nayanthara have presented themselves well and utilized the confined scope of their roles perfectly.

Now, coming to the flaws of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, the direction and screenplay of the movie fall flat at multiple parts. Moreover, the running time of the film is extremely long and required better editing. The subject’s dialogues also required a bit more weight. The film picks up towards its second half and the actual stunts and action come in. Some stunts seem totally unrealistic but make for an entertaining watch. The film’s music is fairly good; however, the awkwardly crafted lyrics tend to stick out.

Overall, while the narrative depicts some flaws, the thing that requires appreciation is that film’s creators extracted this story from the old, dusty history pages and showcased it on a huge canvas for the audience to watch.
