Plot: The film is based on the life of Patna based brilliant mathematician Anand Kumar (Hrithik Roshan), who gets an admission at the Cambridge University due to his brilliance in mathematics. But solely because of his inability to afford the fees, he has to let go of this opportunity, which hits him hard and breaks his spirit.

Things take a temporary turn for the better when Lallan Singh (Aditya Srivastava) finds Anand selling papad on a Patna street and offers him a job as a math teacher in a thriving IIT coaching institute for affluent students. Anand's money flow improves dramatically but soon, his true calling and passion catches up with him and he starts the Super 30 program - a coaching class for smart but underprivileged students to prepare for entrance exams, who are aspiring to get admission in IIT.

Review: While the narrative does have its flaws, ‘Super 30’ the story of a teacher who triumphs over the many challenges that life throws at him, sets an example for the world to see. The film is certainly better off in choosing realistic heroism over the super heroism that Hindi cinema is so accustomed to. It drives home the message that education is truly the privilege of those who have the access and economic resources.

The film’s cinematography is outstanding. However, in the second half, the film’s lengthy run-time begins to weigh on the narrative. And some of the plot points come across as far-fetched and overly dramatic, with the background score dominating some scenes unnecessarily.

Though Hrithik Roshan’s physicality may not be entirely convincing, but his performance makes up for it, as he pulls off a fine performance essaying Anand Kumar, and captures his character’s sincerity and determination very well. Even the way the film portrays, how driven the batch of students are, leaving behind their impoverished lives and literally daring to dream big would move you.

The film is worth a watch. After all, as the famous saying goes - “Not all superheroes wear capes.” Super 30 is the story of one such.
