Things are about to get dangerous for the kids who are entering their teenhood and dealing with the complications of relationships, while fighting with a monster.

The Duffer Brothers’ rendition of ‘80s sci-fi thriller, ‘Stranger Things’, is returning with its third installment and after the release of its final trailer, we now know things are about to get pretty messy in the quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana. The final trailer which was released on June 21 gave us a brief idea about what awaits for the kids in Hawkins who are now at the cusp of their teenhood, and will witness what it takes to bring down a monster who resides in a parallel universe.

The show has been following a group of kids who come across a girl, named Eleven, and with the help of her superhuman powers they are on their quest to defeat the looming evil that has entered our world from a parallel dimension. As the release date is already announced, and with the series set to be launched in a few days’ time, here’s all you need to know about ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3:

Release Date:

Season 3 of the Duffer Brothers-created show is set to return on July 4, 2019.

Plot:

Although Eleven had already shut the gates of the Upside-Down back in Season 2, the new trailer suggests she might not have entirely succeeded in keeping the monster away. Netflix’s vice president of original programming Cindy Holland had confirmed that the third season is worth the wait, and “[Creators] The Duffer Brothers and [producer] Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high,” she said. “They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

The official synopsis of the season reads as, “It's 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer's heating up. School's out, there's a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group's dynamic, and they'll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town's threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they'll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.”

Trailer:

‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 has released two trailers so far, and unlike the first one which gave us snippets to what can be expected the second trailer blows up with an action-packed three-minutes long dive into all the dangers that are coming out characters’ way.

The first trailer had given us an introductory picture to the newfound teenhood of the leading characters who are about to experience the first bout of romance, while on the other hand, they also make some new friends and old enemies cross their way. However, the second trailer already gives us who this old enemy will be, and as we hear Will Byers explains that the monster might be looking for a new host in this planet, we see the frame spanning around Billy Hargrove- the new jock who was introduced in Season 2.

The characters are about to go through some major transitions of their lives. (IMDb)

Both the trailers put together are suggestive of the transition that the characters are about to go through, both physically and mentally, and at the same time how each of them deal with the enemy they have always feared.

Cast:

The old gang is back which means we will once again see actors like Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalie Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harringtong) and Dacre Montgomery (Billy Hargrive) take up their iconic roles.

This season, Maya Thurman- Hawke will also join the cast as a character named Robin who works with fan-favourite Steve at an ice-cream shop in the mall. Her character will hold a significant place in the series as she is about to uncover a dark secret about Hawkins. On the other hand, Jake Busey and Cary Elwes will join in as Bruce and Mayor Kine along with Francesca Reale as Heather.

Some old characters will return along with a few new friends. (IMDb)

Recap:

It might be a good idea to go through Season 2 before we jump in the growing pandemonium of Season 3. After rescuing Will from the Upside Down in Season 1, Eleven disappeared in the other world until she managed to find a wormhole to travel back into the present dimension. On the other hand, Mike spent almost a year trying to make contact with Eleven on the other side and he never missed a day to give her a call. Hopper manages to discover Eleven in the woods when she escapes the other world, and keeps her hidden in his cabin until one day Eleven flees in search for her mother whom she finds out in an unaware state.

After making contact with her mother, Eleven reunites with her sister who was subjected to the same experiments as she but the two soon realize their paths are different, and Eleven gets back with her old group who now have a new friend, Max. On the other hand, Nancy breaks up with Steve and patches up with Jonathan as she tries to find out the truth behind the death of her best friend, Barb.
