Review: The Rise of Skywalker’s first half turns out to be one long chase, which shows the search for an artefact that’s crucial to defeat the Emperor. Though the plot transports from one richly imagined world to another, many of the early plot developments seemed designed just to fill the time. Moreover, constantly coming up with new destinations to visit, then rushing over as quickly as possible makes the film look both hurried and drawn out.

And as far as the second half of the film is concerned, if you have watched the ‘Return of the Jedi’ you could probably guess where the story would end. In short, the film directed by J.J. Abrams would not surprise you but can make you still appreciate how he has managed to expand on the older film’s scale and stakes.

Many of the characters, new and old, simply don't have space to breathe as there’s plenty of running and gunning, wacky aliens and all the adventure you could possibly hope for! For a movie that moves this swift, is frustratingly inert as it doesn’t allow the revelations to sink in fully.

It was Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley performances and scenes together that continued to be the most engaging. And though the new characters were intriguing, they eventually didn’t do enough to matter.

However, the gorgeous set design, the background score, vivid cinematography and a striking combination of visual takes away the credit. Overall, The Rise of Sky Walkers plot was predictable and was aimed at the people who loved the Star Wars Era.
