Everybody does possess some leadership qualities in them, but the only thing is that they need find it out. There’s a perception that, only few people can be great leaders. That’s not true. There are few qualities that people should have or follow to become a prominent leader.  But the route to become a great leader is never an easy one. People will encounter various types of situations and emotions; there will be the good times, stressful ones, and even terrible times. However, a great leader is always able to lead a team to success, regardless of the situation that they are facing.

Some leadership qualities that a good leader should possess or learn are:

Integrity

The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.” Honesty and integrity are two important ingredients which make a good leader. How can you expect your followers to be honest when you lack these qualities yourself? Leaders succeed when they stick to their values and core beliefs and without ethics, this will not be possible.

Positive Attitude

A leader must always motivate his team members towards the continued success of the company, and keep the energy levels up. He should know how to keep the office mood a fine balance between productivity and playfulness. If his team is feeling happy and upbeat, chances are they won’t mind staying that extra hour to finish a report, or devoting their best work to the brand.

Strategic Planning

Great leaders are outstanding at strategic planning. It’s another one of the more important leadership strengths. They have the ability to look ahead, to anticipate with some accuracy where the industry and the markets are going. Leaders have the ability to anticipate trends, well in advance of their competitors. They do this through thoughtful strategic planning. Because of increasing competitiveness, only the leaders and organizations that can accurately anticipate future markets can possibly survive. Only leaders with foresight can gain the ‘first mover advantage.’

 Passion and Commitment

The team looks up to the leader and if he wants them to give them their all, he will have to be passionate about it too. When his teammates see him getting his hands dirty, they will also give their best shot. It will also help him to gain the respect of his subordinates and infuse new energy in his team members, which helps them to perform better. If they feel that he is not fully committed or lacks passion, then it would be an uphill task for the leader to motivate his followers to achieve the goal.

Good Communicator

Until he clearly communicates his vision to his team and tell them the strategy to achieve the goal, it will be very difficult for you to get the results you want. If he is unable to communicate his message effectively to your team, you can never be a good leader. A good communicator can be a good leader. Words have the power to motivate people and make them do the unthinkable. If you use them effectively, you can also achieve better results.

Vision

Great leaders have a vision. They can see into the future. They have a clear, exciting idea of where they are going and what they are trying to accomplish and are excellent at strategic planning. This quality separates them from managers. Having a clear vision turns the individual into a special type of person. This quality of vision changes a “transactional manager” into a ‘transformational leader.’ While a manager gets the job done, great leaders tap into the emotions of their employees.

Be Fair and Unbiased

Sometimes, reaching the top by suppressing or pushing down others is the choice that few of them take in life to show themselves as leaders. They try to defend themselves by pushing down the other person. This is an unfair attempt of becoming a leader and at the end they don’t succeed. Some keep boosting themselves, by highlighting every small thing as a big achievement that they have done, especially in the organizations and in front of their boss in order to please them and get good performance feedback to go to the next level. But a good leader never supports such actions of their team members and will always take an unbiased decision.
