Social Message with a Unique Twist - Dancing Waters by A. Sivamani and Neha Banerjee

Drums Percussionist A. Sivamani & Neha Banerjee Launch Announce Dancing Waters - A unique fusion of Dance, Music and Water Conservation

Mumbai: On 20th August, 2019, Legendary Drums Sivamani (Indian percussionist) and former actress Neha Banerjee announced their new fusion of classical dance, Classical Music and Social Awareness on the theme ‘Conservation of Water’ with ‘Dancing Waters’. They put forth a mesmerizing live performance in Mumbai and got into an exclusive conversation with Apeksha News Network on this unique collaboration.

“Music, dance or any art form reaches every nook and corner; hence it is the best way to convey a social message. Times have been changing and experimenting will help to hook the audience. It is just a small step to use our talents to spread the word for water conservation,” said Neha Banerjee.

Supporting her views, Drums Sivamani asserted, “Water and nature conservation is the need of the hour. India is facing crucial water crisis that can be solved not only with prayers, but sheer efforts to save this precious gift from God. Dancing Waters is a small initiative by us to create awareness and bring about a difference.”

“Tackling water issues in the country is a joint effort, which needs to be practiced religiously by each one of us,'' opined Neha. “Whether it is tree plantation, controlling pollution or rain water harvesting, we all need to join hands and work towards a better future,” she added.

An exhilarated Neha, who is the senior most disciple and student of Pandit Birju Maharaj, revealed the secrets of the Kathak Guru’s fitness and enthusiasm. “He is unstoppable. Even while he is asleep his mind and hands keep working. Each day is about new creation and ideas for him. He is blessed with immense talent and power to keep entertaining us every day. Rhythm flows in each part of his body constantly.”

When asked about the water pollution created during Ganesh Chaturthi, Sivamani said, “Ganpati is an extravagant celebration in Mumbai, but with time, I’ve seen the scenarios change for the good. People are getting environment conscious and have started taking a step towards maintaining a balance between enjoyment and sustainable life. A group in Malad uses a separate tank to perform the Visarjan rituals. It is like getting the best of both worlds, completely appreciating.”

Dancing Waters, fusion of Kathak and drums with a message to conserve water will go on floors on 24th August. The blend of various musical instruments and choreography by one of the oldest disciples of Pt. Birju Maharajji, Vijayshree Chaudhry, will make it a grand affair!
