Siddharth Chandekar and Parna Pethe to play the leads in Hungama Play’s original Marathi show — Adhantari

India: Superstars, Siddharth Chandekar and Parna Pethe will be headlining the cast of Hungama Play’s upcoming original Marathi show, Adhantari. The show will also feature extremely popular actors, Virajas Kulkarni, Aashay Kulkarni and Aroh Welankar in pivotal roles. Adhantari is a quirky yet lovable and relatable romantic comedy drama about a couple in a long-distance relationship that is compelled to spend a long time together due to circumstances beyond their control.

Known for his roles in Marathi movies like Classmates, Lost and Found, Online Binline, Gulabjaam, Ranangan, among others, Siddharth Chandekar is also popular for his roles in shows like Sang Tu Aahes Ka?, Jeevlaga, Prem He, City of Dreams and more. Commenting on Adhantari and his role, he said, “The show highlights situations that every couple must have gone through over the last year. That makes it extremely relatable. Even the characters that Parna and I play are realistic and easy to identify with. Every couple today is looking for commitment, compatibility and a deeper connection with each other, and this show packages all of these issues in a dramatic yet humorous way.”

Parna Pethe, popular for playing leading roles in movies like Faster Fene, Photocopy, Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar, YZ, Rama Madhav and several theatre plays, said, “Adhantari is a story that fits perfectly in a world filled with imperfect people. I play the role of Mugdha, a Mumbai girl who is in a long-distance relationship. But when she has to spend a long duration of time with her boyfriend, things start to unravel. In many ways the show will also serve as a reflection of the modern world where it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to maintain relationships.”

Recognized for his role in the show, Maza Hoshil Na and films like Rikshaw Roko Mitra Mandal, Maduri and Hostel Days, Virajas Kulkarni said, “Even though it is a love story, Adhantari is different from other shows that viewers may have seen. It revolves around a couple struggling to understand each other better, but still managing to find their way through unexpected situations. I am sure that viewers will find certain traits of themselves in the characters of the show.”

Aashay Kulkarni, who is known for television shows such as Majha Hoshil Na, Kiti Sangaychay Mala, Pahile Na Mi Tula and Ek Thi Begum and Marathi film Kay Bi, said, “The past year and a half has been filled with unpredictability and it is this aspect that audiences will see and enjoy on the show. Add to that, the relatable characters will make viewers feel that they too are part of this story and be fully immersed in its narrative.”

Renowned for his roles in films like Rege, Ghantaa and shows like Ladachi Me Lek G, Gulmohar, Bigg Boss Marathi 2, Aroh Welankar said, “Adhantari is a simple, yet unique story that has a lot going on under the surface. Though I have a small role in the show, I wanted to be a part of it because as an actor, you want to be part of stories that speak to you!”

Produced by Ganraj Associates and directed by Jeet Ashok, the show will soon be available on Hungama Play and partner networks.
