Rs 4158 cr sanctioned to Jharkhand for afforestation

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government on Thursday received a sanction letter of Rs 4158 crore central government funds for afforestation drives in the state, officials here said.

The letter was handed over to officials of the state government by Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, at New Delhi.

The funds were sanctioned by the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).

"I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar ji for sanctioning Rs 4158.02 crore from CAMPA fund to Jharkhand," Chief Minister Raghubar Das tweeted.

The union minister tweeted, "Handed over sanction letter for Rs 4158.02 Cr. to #Jharkhand for Afforestation #CAMPA. The issue which was pending for more than a decade has been resolved by @narendramodi govt." 

Javadekar had on July 11 directed officials of his ministry to transfer the funds after Das met him in New Delhi.
