Good news for the makers of PM Modi's biopic, as Delhi High court and Mumbai High court dismissed the petition today, filed against the film’s release.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Anup Bhambhani refused to entertain the public interest litigation after being informed that the Bombay High Court, as well as the Election Commission, was already seized with the issue. "We are not going to interfere with it. You go to the censor board or the Election Commission (EC)," the bench said while dismissing the plea.

The petitioner, Sujit Kumar Singh, a lawyer by profession, had claimed the film PM Narendra Modi, if permitted to release for public viewing before the elections, would violate the model code of conduct imposed by the Election Commission.

"The said film, if released for public during the period when the model code of conduct is in operation and moreover just a week before the 17th Lok Sabha election, could have a great impact on voters and that can even be seen as campaign material to be used before voting when the official publicity is banned," the plea claimed.

Creative director and story writer Sandip Singh said in a statement,” We are very happy that finally the justice has been given to the film. We believe in the system and the law. We are hoping to release the film on time now.”

The movie is set to release on 5 April this year.
