Shimla: Light to moderate rain occurred at some places in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, the Met office said.

Fagu received 34 mm rain, followed by Mandi (29 mm), Shimla (17 mm), Dharamshala (7 mm), Narkanda (5 mm), Sangla (4 mm), Nahan (3 mm) and Dalhousie, Kangra and Chamba (1 mm each), Shimla Met centre director Manmohan Singh said.

Una was the hottest place in the state as the maximum temperature there settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius whereas the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti's Keylong recorded the lowest temperature at 11.3 degrees Celsius, he added.

Meanwhile, the Met centre has forecast rain in the hill-state till September 2 but issued a yellow warning for August 28 for heavy rain with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in low and middle hills.

The weather office issues colour-coded warnings to alert people ahead of severe or hazardous weather that has the potential to cause "damage, widespread disruption or danger to life".

Yellow, the least dangerous of all the weather warnings, indicates the possibility of severe weather.
