Plot: The movie Panga is regarding the life of a forgotten national-level kabaddi player from India, played by Kangana Ranaut as Jaya Nigam who is torn between family responsibility and her love for the sport. It follows her triumphs, struggle, her inner desire to give a new meaning to her existing role as a wife and mother and shows how important the love and support of family is required to be successful.

Review: The director of the film Panga, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari brings out an emotional yet inspiring message, with subtle moments showcased through the journey of a young mother. And managed to infuse a refreshing energy to the otherwise usual ‘small-town’ world of Hindi films.

Kudos to the casting director Mukesh Chabbra. As when it comes to performances, Kangana Ranaut was terrific as Jaya - who juggles life between her seven-year-old son, Adi (Yagya Bhasin), household chores, job and her passion for the sport Kabaddi. She has delivered both vulnerabilities and power- the two sides of her character seamlessly, which was absolutely fascinating to watch.

While Jassie Gill as Prashant does full justice to the very well written role of a supportive husband, which within itself is heroic, in its own silent ways! Even Debutant Yagya Bhasin as Adi, Jaya’s son stands out with his comic timing. Whereas Richa Chadha who played the role of Kangana's best friend and a Kabaddi coach is superb. From accent to the plenty of laughs that she brings out, she has drenched herself well under the skin of her character.

Neena Gupta as Jaya's mother and Megha Burman as Nisha, her teammate too had a well fleshed out role to play.

As far as the dialogues are concerned, they were sparkling and injected with humour.
The stirring soundtrack - music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar is smoothly woven that doesn’t distract yet touches the right chord.

The film is not only about women dropping out of the workforce, but also a film that honours the endless hours of work that mothers put behind their families. Overall, 'Panga' is intelligently scripted, neatly directed, motivating and extremely well-acted sports film, hence it is a must-watch.
