Dhanbad: A 50-year old woman was killed and her husband and son critically injured when their two-storey house collapsed in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district, police said on Friday.

The incident happened at Katras Bhagat Muhalla, which is 35 km away from Dhanbad town, around 8.30 pm on Thursday, they said.

The deceased was identified as Baby Devi, while her husband Pradeep Gupta (56) and son Ayush (15) were critically injured, police said.

Two other adjacent buildings were also damaged, they said.

All three were trapped in debris as the building collapsed. Locals, police and mines rescue team of the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) pulled them out of the rubble.

They were rushed to the nearby Nichitpur Hospital where doctors declared Baby Devi as brought dead, police said.

The building was more than a hundred years old and in a dilapidated condition in lack of maintenance, they said.

Gupta was living with five members of his family in the building. His two daughters -- Prerna (22) and Mitali (18) -- were out of the house at the time of the incident.
