Plot: The film, directed by Ashok Nanda, revolves around a crime branch special officer, role played by Esha Gupta. She is seen investigating the serial disappearance of high-profile individuals. While Kher essays the role of a lawyer who is known for fair justice but despite this he is bounded by law to give judgements on some cases, that he felt were unfair. And one incident jolts him from the inside and that’s when he takes matters into his own hands and embarks on a mission to extract confessions from all those criminals who were roaming free due to the lack of evidence against them. The film raises a question that how far we can go to fight against the unfair judgment and whether breaking the law for the fair justice is right or not.

Review: The performance by Anupam Kher as retired Judge is quite promising and so is that of Inspector Sharma’s (Kumud Mishra). Esha has played a similar kind of de-glam role in another 2012 movie but this time the Haryanvi accent seems like a total misfit. The attempt to sound like a native is jarring and moreover the fierce cop’s introduction into the film as a seductive dancer in a nightclub in Kolkata is laughable.

The overall story is a disjointed thriller that just doesn’t add up. Especially the first part of the movie seems sloppy and though the second half picks up the pace, be warned as the pace is fractured as well.

Except for the title track ‘One Day’ sung by Usha Uthup – the veteran singer the music is easily forgettable. There is not even a single song that goes well with the storyline. The titillating numbers with skimpily clad women inserted as a tool to distract - are uncalled for.

The film One Day: Justice Delivered attempts to ride on the able shoulders of Kher's Judge Tyagi, but only succeeds in burdening them with the weight of Nanda's limpid narrative. In short, the vigilante thriller, with Kher and Esha Gupta, fails on many fronts hence the verdict isn’t favourable for ‘One Day: Justice Delivered’. Watch this on your own time.
