Bhubaneswar: Odisha's COVID-19 tally mounted to 3,37,860 on Tuesday as 57 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

The state also registered the recovery of 82 patients taking the total number of cured people to 3,35,250 which is 99.22 percent of the caseload.

Thirty-four of the new cases were reported from quarantine centers, while 23 infections were detected during contact tracing.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases at 12, followed by Cuttack (eight) and Sundergarh (seven).

The state's COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 1,917 as no fresh fatality was reported. Fifty-three coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far.

Odisha now has 640 active cases, which is 0.18 percent of the caseload.

The state has so far tested over 85.12 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 20,081 on Monday.

Altogether 63,929 people were inoculated on Tuesday, taking the total number of people who received the jab to 9,68,766, an official said.

The latest data shows that 2, 25,365 beneficiaries who are aged 60 years and above have taken the shot, while 10,807 people between 45 to 59 years of age having comorbidities got the vaccine.

Odisha has received 9,04,180 more doses of the Covishield vaccine on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Odisha Assembly Speaker S N Patro said that all the MLAs and staff of the assembly will again undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) as a precautionary measure before the commencement of the second phase of the budget session on March 12.

He said that before the beginning of the first phase of the budget session, all MLAs and assembly staff had undergone the RT-PCR test. Those who had tested negative for COVID-19 were allowed to attend the session.
