IRVINE, Calif.: Naturade has been chosen by the Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) as the recipient of its 2021 Mission and Philanthropy Award. As part of the NBJ Business Achievement Awards, the publication recognizes the fastest-growing companies in the industry and the companies going the farthest to make sustainability, innovation and philanthropy their mission.

The NBJ is the premier publication for the nutrition, natural, organic, dietary supplement and integrative medicine industries. Each year the publication recognizes the industry’s most notable business leaders in its annual Business Achievement Awards issue.

“We are thrilled and humbled to receive such a prestigious award from such a highly respected publication like NBJ,” Claude Tellis, Naturade co-owner, said. “We are extremely passionate about our company mission and will continue to work toward providing people with choices that help them live healthier lives.”

Naturade was founded in 1926 and purchased by Kareem Cook and Tellis in 2012. Cook and Tellis met at Duke University and bonded over a shared observation that many of their family members were suffering from diet-related illnesses. This realization eventually led them to purchase Naturade and brand it as a mission-driven business dedicated to helping promote a healthy lifestyle and providing everyone access to quality food regardless of income, location, and race.

The award was announced in the April issue of NBJ. Winners will be honored at the 2021 NBJ Summit, to be held July 27-30 in Carlsbad, CA.
