Plot: Mirzapur revolves around crime, corruption, governance failure, rule of mafia dons, and gang wars, in the titular eastern UP town. And the second season of Mirzapur takes the story forward - as the fight to become the king of Mirzapur continues between Munna Bhaiya (Divyendu Sharma) and Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal).

Review: Season 2 of Mirzapur picks up from where the first one ended. It kickstarts with even more violence that instantly grabs your attention. Hence, the premise of the Mirzapur 2 series remains the same - guns, drugs, violence, and action, and with its loudmouth characters, excessive violence, profanity, it looks like this time too, ‘Mirzapur’ has stuck to its roots.

As expected, the show is full of cuss words and violence. It is merciless and murkier than the first season. Creator Puneet Krishna and his Directors Gurmmeet Singh and Mihir Desai continue to take bold decisions, adding more shock value to this already grim revenge saga.

Nevertheless, the second season takes a while to gain momentum. Unlike the first season, there is no space for humour or even a splash of relief for viewers, which makes the episode viewing experience a bit exhausting. But shows like Mirzapur have a unique quality - they spell out every emotion, hence they don’t require your undivided attention and this makes them quite easy for home-viewing, as they don’t demand you to completely cut yourself off from your surroundings.

As far as the performances are concerned, actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharmaa, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Harshita Gaur will reprise their roles, while Isha Talwar, Vijay Varma, Priyanshu Painyuli are the new members of the cast, this season. And it won't be wrong to say that Mirzapur has a strong cast, which continues to deliver this time as well!

Pankaj Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya is a delight to watch and there is nobody who could have played the character with such poise. Even Ali Fazal aka Guddu Pandit is more menacing in this season. Both are at the center of this world. Divyendu Sharmaa entertains, as well as terrifies us, and plays the perfect son to Pankaj Tripathi.

Shweta Tripathi Sharma and Harshita Gaur leave us intrigued too and have a lot more to do this season, compared to the last one. Anjum Sharma’s Sharad seems promising as well. Sheeba Chaddha and Rajesh Tailang reprise their roles as Vasudha and Ramakant Pandit, respectively. Even Rasika Dugal stands out with her restrained. This season has given its women more scope and successfully managed to showcase the inner strength and vulnerability in them.

And as far as the script of the web series is concerned, some heavy dialogues leave a strong impact on you. You might want to rewind and watch the scenes again.

Overall, ‘Mirzapur’ 2’ has a killer combination of power and politics. And it seems like this genre of content is here to stay. Though we have seen such revenge dramas in the same UP hinterland earlier as well, this web series has managed to fire in the right direction and hit the target in delivering a gritty a well as a gruesome tale of intense rivalries!
